A curtailment notice is binding once given. But regulations 13 and 14 of the SPLR 2014 set out narrow withdrawal grounds: discovery that neither parent qualified, the death of a partner, or withdrawal within six weeks of the first PLN where the leave has not yet started. If one of those applies, the notice can be unwound. If none applies, the maternity or adoption leave is gone and the dispute moves to how the SPL itself is being administered.
