3. Test the curtailment notice (Decision Point 2)
A curtailment notice is binding once given, but regulations 13 and 14 of the SPLR 2014 set out narrow withdrawal grounds: discovery that neither parent qualified, the death of a partner, or withdrawal within six weeks of the first PLN where the leave has not yet started. If one of those applies, the notice can be unwound; if none applies, the maternity or adoption leave is gone and the dispute moves to how the SPL itself is being administered.
