The visitor levy is not automatic. Individual councils in Wales choose whether to adopt it. If your council adopts the levy, it applies from April 2027 at the earliest; Cardiff Council starts the levy on 1 April 2027. The levy is charged per person per night, and you pay it to the WRA, which collects it for the council.
Not all councils will adopt the levy at the same time, and some may choose not to adopt it at all. Check your council's position.
