Independent body that protects and promotes the rights of people in Scotland with mental illness, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions. Statutory functions under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 including monitoring use of compulsory treatment, investigating cases of concern, and visiting patients subject to compulsion.
