What BSR does

Regulates building safety for higher-risk buildings (18+ metres or 7+ storeys with at least 2 residential units) in England. Established under the Building Safety Act 2022. Oversees building control profession, manages building inspector and building control approver registration. Receives mandatory occurrence reports for building safety issues.

Currently part of HSE but planned to become separate body under MHCLG. Key duties: higher-risk building registration, gateway points for design and construction, ongoing safety case management.
