Confused about how the levy works?

The visitor levy is not automatic. Individual councils in Wales choose whether to adopt it. If your council adopts the levy, it applies from April 2027 at the earliest. The levy is charged per person per night to guests — you collect it and remit it to the council via the WRA.

Not all councils will adopt the levy at the same time, and some may choose not to adopt it at all. Check your council's position.
