Step 2 of 5

If you will be the premises manager (Scotland's equivalent of the DPS), you need a Scottish personal licence. This requires completing the Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH) — a different qualification from the English BIIAB Level 2.

Key facts about the Scottish personal licence:

  • Valid for 10 years (not indefinite)
  • Refresher training required every 5 years to maintain the licence
  • Apply to the Licensing Board in the area where you live
  • Basic Disclosure Scotland check required
