General duty to protect employees and others affected by the business — workshop electrical safety, manual handling, hand tools and substances used in repair work.
Employers' Liability Insurance

Required for any business employing at least one person.

Repairers process customer and staff personal data (booking records, contact details). For computer and consumer-electronics repair the duty extends to personal data held on customers' devices, which technicians may access during diagnosis and repair — handle under the data-minimisation and security principles. ICO registration unless exempt.

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
The responsible person must carry out a fire risk assessment and maintain fire safety arrangements for the workshop/premises — relevant where solvents, batteries (lithium-ion fire risk) and electrical equipment are stored.
