These requirements apply to all business activities in this division.
Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 — general duties

General duty to protect employees and others affected by the business — crew, ground staff, passengers and the public. HSENI enforces in Northern Ireland.
Employers' Liability Insurance
Enforced by HSE
Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969
Required for any business employing at least one person. (Aviation liability insurance for the aircraft and passengers is a separate operating-licence condition — see the operating-licence requirement on passenger and freight activities.)

Air carriers process extensive personal data (passenger name records, staff records, advance passenger information). ICO registration unless exempt.

No discrimination in employment or in services provided to the public. Disabled air passengers also have specific assistance rights under retained Regulation (EC) 1107/2006, enforced by the CAA.

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
The 'responsible person' must carry out a fire risk assessment for offices, hangars, crew facilities and other non-domestic premises occupied by the business. Devolved: Fire (Scotland) Act 2005; Fire and Rescue Services (NI) Order 2006.
