Applies to shore-based non-domestic premises — hatcheries, processing and packing sheds, feed and net stores, offices. The responsible person must carry out a fire risk assessment and maintain fire safety arrangements. Does not cover vessels at sea (MCA regime). Aquaculture production business (APB) authorisation

The Aquatic Animal Health (England and Wales) Regulations 2009

A business keeping, rearing or trading farmed fish, molluscs or crustaceans must be authorised as an aquaculture production business by the APHA Fish Health Inspectorate before starting, must keep movement and mortality records, and is subject to risk-based health inspections. Scotland: The Aquatic Animal Health (Scotland) Regulations 2009 (ssi/2009/85), administered by the Marine Directorate fish health inspectorate; plus farm registration under the Aquaculture and Fisheries (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp/2007/12).

The Aquatic Animal Health (England and Wales) Regulations 2009

Duty to notify the Fish Health Inspectorate of suspected listed/notifiable diseases, comply with movement controls and confirmation testing, and meet biosecurity conditions. Live-animal imports/exports need health certification. Scotland: ssi/2009/85, with the Aquaculture and Fisheries (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp/2007/12) adding parasite (e.g. sea-lice) and containment controls.
