What NIHE does
Strategic housing authority for Northern Ireland. Administers the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 2003, manages the NI social-housing stock, assesses housing need, and enforces housing standards (fitness, houses in multiple occupation, tenancy deposit schemes) across the private and public rental sectors.
Sponsored by the NI Department for Communities. No GB equivalent — combines strategic housing, social housing landlord and private-sector enforcement roles in a single body.
