What DESNZ does
Government department responsible for energy policy, net zero strategy, and climate change. Administers Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, sets renewable energy targets, and develops energy security policy. Works with Ofgem on energy market regulation.
Formerly part of BEIS (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy). Created February 2023 as dedicated department for energy and climate.
