Step 2 of 4

Start by reviewing the Welsh language requirements in your contract specification. The contracting body should specify which Standards apply. Common requirements include:

  • Answering phone calls in Welsh and continuing in Welsh if the caller chooses
  • Responding to written correspondence received in Welsh, in Welsh
  • Producing bilingual documents, forms, and signs
  • Providing a bilingual website or digital service
  • Using bilingual signage at premises, events, or construction sites

If the requirements are unclear, ask the contracting body to clarify which Standards apply and what level of Welsh language service delivery they expect. It is better to ask early than to discover non-compliance during the contract.
