Step 2: Identify your service type and appoint a Responsible Individual

CIW categorises regulated services into specific types, and your registration application must match the service you intend to provide. Getting this right matters because the regulations, staffing requirements, and inspection criteria vary by service type.

You must also appoint a Responsible Individual (RI) before you can register. The RI is legally accountable for the service and must be a director, partner, or trustee of the organisation providing the service.
