Constructing without SuDS approval is a criminal offence in Wales. The maximum fine on summary conviction is 20,000 pounds. The SAB can also issue enforcement notices requiring you to retrofit compliant drainage at your own cost.

Unlike planning enforcement, there is no retrospective approval route for SuDS. If you build without approval, you face prosecution and mandatory remediation.
