Training, paid time off and facilities
If your employees elect representatives of employee safety, regulations 6 and 8 give those representatives — and election candidates — statutory rights to reasonable training at your cost, paid time off during working hours to perform their functions and undergo training, and the facilities and assistance they reasonably need. These are the duties that most often end up in dispute, and unpaid time off is the one route a representative can take you to the employment tribunal.
