Alcohol premises licence
- Premises licence: Does not expire, but you must pay the annual fee and comply with conditions
- Personal licence: Valid for 10 years — must be renewed before expiry
- Refresher training: Personal licence holders must complete refresher training every 5 years
Short-term let licence
- Licence duration: Granted for up to 3 years (renewals may be longer)
- Renewal: Apply to your council before the licence expires
Operating without a licence is a criminal offence
If your licence has lapsed, stop operating and apply for renewal immediately. Continuing to trade without a valid licence can result in prosecution and fines.
