Step 5: Get support from your Licensing Standards Officer

Every Scottish council employs Licensing Standards Officers (LSOs) whose job is to help licence holders understand and comply with the law. Contact your local LSO for:

  • Advice on licensing requirements and conditions
  • Guidance on your operating plan
  • Help resolving complaints before they become formal
  • Information about local licensing policies

LSOs are a valuable free resource — using them proactively demonstrates good practice and helps protect your licence.
