Step 1: Understand what action is being taken
Identify which type of enforcement action you are facing:
- Licence review: A responsible authority or interested party has applied to the licensing authority to reconsider your licence. You have time to prepare a response.
- Summary review: The police consider your premises is associated with serious crime or disorder. Interim steps can be imposed within 48 hours.
- Closure notice: The police have issued a closure notice requiring you to cease licensable activities immediately or within a specified period.
- Prosecution: You are being prosecuted for a licensing offence (e.g., underage sales, breach of conditions).
