Understand and comply with UK REACH chemical registration requirements for manufacturers and importers.
If you manufacture or import 1 tonne or more of chemicals per year, you must register them with the HSE. Check your deadline based on tonnage (2029-2031). Submit a dossier and pay a fee (£2,222 for large companies, less for SMEs).

- Fee: £2,222 (large), £1,667 (medium), £1,000 (small), £222 (micro)
- Submit dossier with substance details, tonnage, safety data
- Update safety data sheets with UK REACH number
- Report actual tonnages annually
- Penalties: Up to £20,000 fine or imprisonment
- SDS must follow 16-section format in English
- Keep records for 10 years after last supply
- Separate registration needed for UK and EU markets
UK REACH regulates the manufacture, import, and use of chemicals in Great Britain. If you manufacture or import 1 tonne or more per year of a chemical substance, you must register it with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
UK REACH vs EU REACH
UK REACH is separate from EU REACH following Brexit. Businesses must register separately with HSE for the GB market. Substances already registered under EU REACH need separate UK registration ('grandfathering' has transitional deadlines).
