Guide summary

You must use an OZEV-approved installer to get a government grant for installing EV chargepoints. From 15 June 2022, new buildings with 10 or more parking spaces must have EV charging. All chargepoints must have smart functionality from July 2022. Check the current per-site limit before applying for the Workplace Charging Scheme grant.

Smart charging

Charge points sold or supplied by retailers or installers from 30 June 2022 must have 'smart' functionality. The duty falls on the seller or supplier, not an end-user business that merely installs a charge point it acquired.
