Waste duty of care

The s34 duty of care binds anyone who imports, produces, carries, keeps, treats or disposes of controlled waste — so it applies to every business in this division. Waste must be stored securely, described accurately, transferred only to an authorised person, and documented with waste transfer notes (or hazardous-waste consignment notes). Devolved: Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012 + SEPA; Natural Resources Wales in Wales; NIEA/DAERA in NI under the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997.
